Ms. Chisa Mikami is the second keynote speaker for the NERPS Conference 2024

We are delighted to announce that Ms. Chisa Mikami, Head of Office, United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), Hiroshima office, Japan, will be one of the keynote speakers for the NERPS Conference 2024 that will be held at Hiroshima University, Japan from March 6-9, 2024.

Ms. Chisa Mikami holds a B.A. in Latin American Studies from the University of Tokyo’s College of Liberal Arts and a M.A. in International Affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. After completed her tenure at Citibank, she joined the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 2000. Over the years, she contributed her expertise in various locations, including Cuba (2000-2004) and Tokyo (2004-2007). Her roles expanded to Deputy Country Director of Guatemala (2007-2011), Deputy Resident Representative of Guyana (2011-2015), Deputy Resident Representative of Barbados and Eastern Caribbean (2015-2018), Acting Resident Representative of the Office (2018-2019), and Deputy Resident Representative of Equatorial Guinea Office (2019-2022). Since November 8, 2023, she has held the position of Head of Office at the UNITAR Office in Hiroshima.

Ms. Mikami directs the worldwide initiatives managed by the Hiroshima Office in areas such as Hiroshima and peace, social innovation and entrepreneurship, and leadership and inclusion, digital futures, finance and trade, and anti-corruption and combating crime while overseeing an expansion to emerging fields. She also focuses on enhancing partnerships with the Hiroshima community and outreach in Japan. Furthermore, Ms. Mikami is committed to the strong collaboration between the Hiroshima Office and the UNITAR Association, a Japanese non-government organization established to support UNITAR that aims to heighten awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Japan.
