As a publisher and information analytics business Elsevier, both through actions within our organization and through our information, data and analytical tools, is committed to help all stakeholders in research, healthcare and public policy in making the targets set by the UN SDGs a reality. In this webinar, Dr Anders Karlsson will give an overview of internal activities, aspects of Elsevier’s publishing program, but notably introduce analytics and collaborations around the SDG research landscape; addressing questions such as north-south collaboration and gender aspects. Dr Karlsson will also introduce key findings from a recent report Pathways to Net Zero: The Impact of Clean Energy Research.

About the Speaker

Dr. Anders Karlsson joined Elsevier in 2012 as Vice President, Global Strategic Networks. In this role he is actively engaged in Elsevier’s efforts around sustainability. Before Elsevier he was for five years Science Counselor at Embassy of Sweden, Tokyo. He was for 10 years Professor in Quantum Photonics at the Royal Institute of Technology – KTH, Stockholm, Sweden and has been Visiting Scientist at among others NTT Basic Research Labs and Stanford University. He has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and a M.Sc. in Engineering Physics, both from KTH.

About the NERPS Webinar Series

The Network for Education and Research on Peace and Sustainability (NERPS) at Hiroshima University in Japan is hosting a series of webinars on the relationship between peace and sustainability in the context of environmental, socio-political, economic, and technological transformations. This series is situated within the urgent need to deal with the implications of global change, including the COVID-19 pandemic, for peace and sustainability. The webinar sessions serve as a platform for rethinking and updating the current discourse on peace and sustainability amidst these global challenges and transformations. Leading experts will discuss the role of resources, digital technologies, migration, governance, and education in peacebuilding, conflict mitigation, humanitarian aid, and capacity-building, among other components that contribute to the achievement of the Sustainability Development Goals, particularly that of Goal 16 on Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
